About Graham Meale

I've been designing and printing books of my travels for one reason only ... to keep me entertained after I tire of plane travel or dementia sets in, whichever happens first. Originally when people I travelled with and one or two others asked me for copies, I provided them either printed on an inkjet printer or on CD. These days I entrust the job to the American-based self-publishing company Blurb, and I'm very happy with the results. This also means that anyone can browse through or purchase the books online. Click on the title of any book and you will be taken to the Blurb website.

The prices you see on the Blurb website are pretty steep. But by switching to the Australian site, if you're in Australia, then waiting for one of their sales that can be up to 50% off, you can save a bundle. Also, if you ask me nicely, I may be persuaded to remove my (small) royalty. Of course you can look through any books online and it won't cost you anything!

My current travel outfit consists of a Canon EOS-5D Mk IV camera with a Canon EF 24-105 f/4 L IS USM lens, then one or more of Canon EF 70-300 f/4-5.6 L IS USM, Sigma 12-24 f/4.5-5.6 II DG, Canon EF 16-35 f/4 L IS USM and Canon EF 50 f/1.8 II lenses, plus a few other bits and pieces. Previous cameras were a Canon EOS 300D (to Oct 2005), Canon EOS 5D (to Jan 2009), Canon EOS 5D Mk II (to Mar 2012) and Canon EOS 5D Mk III (to Jun 2016). I use Adobe Camera Raw, Adobe Photoshop, Canon Digital Photo Professional and Adobe InDesign to prepare the books. This book may be of interest.

My photographs have been used extensively by several travel companies in their brochures and advertising. I have been invited to present my books at information days. In October 2015 I was interviewed by Fairfax Media for articles in The Sun Herald and The Age on Australia's most travelled people.

Information on the arrangements for each trip can be found here.

I have just finished reading "From Paella to Couscous" which I have added to our treasured collection of your publications. I enjoyed it immensely as did my folks who were with me over the long weekend. Well done, and I am once again seriously thinking of buying a coffee table! [Lisa, Melbourne, Australia]

The books arrived safely today and they are splendid. You have done a great job with them. [Neville & Heather, Tasmania, Australia]

The BEST souvenir of our tour of Spain and Morocco. [Anne & Don, Adelaide, Australia]

I just received your book! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! It is wonderful, I love the pictures. [Paola, Argentina]

Just came across one of your books about Vietnam. May I say you did a fantastic job. [Richard, Brisbane, Australia]

Just got back from Istanbul, Mykonos, Santorini and Athens and am currently enjoying your Turkey and Greece book. Only problem is it makes my (pretty good) pictures pale in comparison to your exceptional photography! [Aditya, USA]

I'm sitting up in bed after a big sleep, after 33 hours to get home, with a big cuppa tea, perusing your most wonderful publication. It's fabulous - love it. I am so glad that I have it as a memento of our trip. Wish you were on all of my travels, so that I could have them all so well documented and photographed. Great job and thank you. [Tracey, Geelong, Australia]

Graham, you can be justly proud of the book. It is full of great pictures. On my trip to Yemen/Jordan/Syria there was a Brisbane couple who were professional photographers. They are regular travellers who produce a book after each trip as a money making venture. I have looked at the books on their website and not surprisingly they are very good. But honestly Graham I think you can match or better them for quality. [Keith, Brisbane, Australia]

I had a little look at your latest book, and wow, you are so talented! The photos are simply stunning. I loved the one of the door, with the little kid's head poking out of it! So cute! The sand dunes were magnificent too. They all were! [Janet, Sydney, Australia]

I'm kind of fond of my homemade efforts, but yours are CLASSY. [Carolyn, Texas, USA]

Your photography stunned me and I look forward to many enjoyable moments looking at your photographs and reading your gentle, insightful and witty comments. [Reyney, Perth, Australia]

When I got home on Thursday, your beautiful book was waiting for me. It is absolutely gorgeous and something Angelo and I will treasure always. I will leave it on our coffee table for all of our family and friends to admire. [Carmel, Sydney, Australia]
